SEPT. 12 Finding God in the Journey.

Our lives as Christians inevitably have peaks and valleys, times of light and times of darkness and God is present in both. How do we find God's presence when it's easy to have faith and how do we find God when it's tough

SEPT. 19 Point to Jesus!

Our role is to be like John the Baptist - to be God's messenger by doing God's will and walking with Jesus, to live in such a way that our lives point others to Him. We are signposts and the only way to be a signpost is to know the one we are pointing to. This year RIOT is going to help us be that signpost by focusing on "Who Jesus Is, What He Did, and What That Means To Us."

SEPT. 26 How Can I Be Significant?

Following Jesus will make our lives have real significance in the world. Each of us is created in God's image and that means we are meant to impact others by how we love and how we serve. But, to be that significant person we must let go of the
things that keep us from following Jesus more closely and serving the people he loves.

OCT. 3 Loving God in our Weakness [Founders Chapel]

So often we don't feel worthy of God's attention or "holy" enough for God. Sometimes we get discouraged because, no matter how hard we try, we keep messing up. Yet, God loves us wherever we are in our spiritual journey and has a special gentleness for us when we are less than we would like to be.

OCT. 10 The Challenge of Living as a Disciple:

If it was easy to be a disciple of Jesus everyone would do it and we wouldn't need RIOT and all the other things that help us grow in our faith. Living in the name of Christ is tough, with distraction around every corner, but the pay-off goes
way beyond the difficulty. We need to learn how to live in His name despite all the challenges we encounter.

OCT. 17 Human Sexuality: Wonderful Gift, Awesome Responsibility

The point isn't "don't do it!" The point is that who we are as sexual beings is an incredible gift and it was God's idea!!! The more we understand God's idea the more awesome will be the gift.

OCT. 24 Keeping Your Focus, Finding Peace [Founders chapel ]

"He went off to a deserted place to pray." Jesus cured many people and was, naturally, VERY popular. People sought him and he could have burned himself out meeting everyone's needs. Sometimes that's a mistake we all make. We
try to "go, go, go" all the time and forget to rest and refocus our lives. Tonight will be an opportunity to do just that.

OCT. 31 Who Ya Gonna Call?

Life can be really hard. People we care about
fall ill, families break up, tests are failed. In those times we naturally (and rightly) lean heavily on our friends, yet, we often turn to Christ as the "last resort." How can our relationship to Christ help us get through those crisis times

NOV. 7 The Sacraments

What exactly IS a sacrament, why do we have them,
what makes the sacraments "come alive" for us especially the
Eucharist, which we celebrate week in and week out.

NOV. 14 Eucharist and the Hungers of our Heart - [Founders Chapel]

This is Hunger and Homeless Week. Though maybe not physical all of
us experience a deep hunger for meaning and love and often feel "homeless" in the world. Jesus came to lead us all to the "home" we seek and fill our lives with love.

NOV. 21 No RIOT meeting

NOV. 28 Am I "consumed" by Consumerism?

During this holiday season we want to take a look at the influence consumerism has on us as individuals and the world. This is not to make us feel guilty or lessen the joy of the
season but to give us an opportunity to reflect on how we impacted by our "consumer" culture and see what the Church and the Gospel have to say to us.

DEC. 5 How Do You Know?

How do we know that we have really been touched
by Jesus and it isn't some religious game we are playing? One thing we can ALWAYS say is that an authentic encounter with Jesus leads us and empowers us to serve. Jesus said he came "not to be served but to serve." He sends us not to be served but to serve.

DEC. 12 Minister to my Family?

The semester is over and most students will be back home very soon. How can these next six weeks a time when we make a real difference in our families by choosing to not just be home but to be home and minister to the ones we love?
